Official Notorious B.I.G. x Timberland Collaboration on the Iconic 6-Inch Boot Comes Out This Month
Two New York icons will come together this month as Timberland collaborates with the estate of late hip-hop legend The Notorious B.I.G. on two styles of the 6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boots. The Notorious B.I.G. x Timberland 6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boots collection includes the shoe in its two most iconic colorways: wheat and black. Designed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the rapper’s debut album, Ready to Die, the boots include subtle references to The Notorious B.I.G. but otherwise retain their classic style.
Both colors are accented with eyelets and lace locks and feature “The Notorious B.I.G.” stamped on the leather heel collar in the same typeface found on the album. The logo also appears in smaller text at the heel of the rubber outsole. The boots come with two hangtags: one in black and gold with a king’s crown emblem and another depicting the Ready to Die album cover in leather. The front and back tongues of both styles include a stamping of the baby that appeared on the album cover — sometimes believed to be an image of The Notorious B.I.G. as a child, but later confirmed to be model Keithroy Yearwood.
Each colorway features unique insole details. The black includes the rapper’s name on the left shoe with his famous “it was all a dream” lyric on the right. Meanwhile, the wheat pair references his “red-and-black lumberjack” lyrics with a buffalo plaid print.
The connection between Timberland and The Notorious B.I.G. dates back to the early 1990s. He frequently wore the brand’s boots during performances and for more casual outings. He also rapped about the boots on numerous occasions, often using their popular shorthand colloquialism “Timbs.” In 2023, a photograph of the late rapper appeared in a promotional campaign for Timberland’s 50th anniversary.
The Notorious B.I.G. c/o The Christopher Wallace Estate x Timberland 6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boots collection will be released Sept. 27. Adult sizes retail for $210, and the wheat color will be offered in grade school sizing for $120.
